Registered Product Owner Credential
We are breaking down silos, opening up and strengthening communication, and empowering teams to help your nonprofit create twice the impact in half the time at a sustainable pace.
The Registered Product Owner for Nonprofits is a 12-hour course that teaches nonprofit professionals what it takes to be an effective Product Owner. This training will help you clearly communicate your vision for your community’s needs, learn to maximize the value of the work done by your team, and develop a prioritized Backlog that helps you achieve that vision. The course is structured to prepare you to help your team consistently deliver high-quality, mission-driven impact to your community. This isn’t just about managing a to-do list. It’s about using a range of techniques to prioritize work (we practice SEVEN in PO class!) and create a shared understanding of the vision.
This course is credentialed by the Agile Education Program powered by Scrum Inc.™
Why Should YOU Become a Registered Product Owner?
Scrum helps organizations:
- Innovate faster;
- Increase client and stakeholder satisfaction;
- Improve communication and reduce silos;
- Reduce friction in team collaboration;
- Improve team morale and productivity;
- Increase transparency, fast feedback, and continual improvement; and
- Move from ideation to delivery more quickly.
Think about the last time you had a big initiative. Did you know exactly what the community needed? Did you have a clear plan for how to get there? Were you sure you were focusing on the most valuable work and, therefore, the highest priority work?
The Product Owner role is designed to help teams answer these questions (especially the “What is the most important thing we should do next?” question!). They are constantly working to ensure the team is focused on delivering high-quality, valuable work that truly meets the needs of your community and is working towards your mission.
Who should attend:
- Any nonprofit professional, regardless of title, who is providing the vision to their team or to the team(s) they work with;
- Any nonprofit professional, regardless of title, who is determining the priority order of their work or their larger team’s work; or
- Any nonprofit professional, regardless of title, who wants to lead by serving their team, even if they are a nonprofit professional who looks like a “team of one” on the organizational chart.
The Product Owner is accountable for effective Product Backlog management, which includes:
- Developing and explicitly communicating the mission-driven Product Vision and Product Goal;
- Creating and clearly communicating Product Backlog items;
- Prioritizing Product Backlog items; and
- Ensuring that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible, and understood.
